Nike Ossler is a Swedish photographer and video creator currently residing in Switzerland. She takes her pictures mostly while traveling she likes to capture different environments through interesting compositions, colors, and lightning.
I prefer traveling to different locations for new impressions, thoughts, and ideas. When I’m in the studio (or temporary living) for the post-production, it’s essential to have my laptop, hard drive, a big glass of water, and good music. That’s where you’ll find me the rest of the evening.
Walk us through your academic experience. How do you think your education shaped your career?
I have an executive degree in documentary making. These studies helped me understand what stories I was interested to tell, the amount of work behind them, and how important it is to go out and make things happen instead of talking about them. We were constantly exposed to new challenges, produced new content, and gathered together to give constructive critique, which greatly impacted my development.

How do you define yourself within the creative industry?
As a freedom-searching and world-curious person, who wants to share her views of the planet through her camera lens.
Who are your favorite artists and who are the ones that built your creative imaginary?
My favorite photographer is Christer Strömholm because his photographs tell a story. He also has a consistent style—you'll know when he’s the photographer. Both of those qualities are something I’m working on accomplishing. Other artists that have inspired me are Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Lars von Trier, and Marina Abramovic´. Lately, I discovered a surf photographer named Ana Catarina, who inspires me through her action, soft-colored, and well-composed photographs.
What is your relationship with social media and how do you use them?
We are on good terms! Instagram is my go-to (and only) platform I’m using as it’s a great place to share photographs with others. I like the fact that anyone can view my work. It gives me a great insight into what people like and prefer, and most importantly, feedback on my work. The response from others is what makes me want to continue doing what I do.

How do you research materials for your creative process?
I mostly shoot travel photography and want to capture moments that stand out. To be prepared, I’m checking what kind of equipment is needed for the specific location by looking up other photographers who’ve done the same type of shootings or/and been to the same place, and technical aspects I should be aware of. I don’t do too much research about the place itself as the unknown sparks my creativity further.
